All Welcome

The most important role of this Preschool is to help children become enthusiastic learners.  This means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts.   Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident and inquisitive learners.  By fostering a love of learning and healthy self-esteem we hope to provide each child with a strong foundation for their future education.

As teacher/educators, it is our role to form close relationships with each child under our care, and their families.  We believe that building this relationship also helps build trust between children and educators. This trust is important for children as it can help them build confidence and independence knowing their educator is there to back them up and help if needed.  We are responsible for providing a safe and welcoming environment for children to learn in. This includes having an inviting room for children to walk into and as an educator, welcome the children into the space each day.

We make use of our community resources and incorporate the child’s community into the program.  We see each child as a unique individual with a great capacity to learn and make positive contributions to those around them.  We believe in a socio-cultural approach to children’s learning, not only focusing on what the child can learn from an experience but what they can learn from their peers, teachers, families, culture and other people in the community.  When given opportunities to interact with peers and adults in positive ways children will feel safe to explore and investigate.

We strive to provide an environment where all families feel welcomed and accepted.  We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and volunteers. We are committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children, the cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.

We work in consultation with children, families and other Early Childhood Professionals to deliver a service that is respectful and supportive.

Children are born learners and when given an environment that supports their natural curiosity they will flourish.   Encouraging children to engage with the natural environment allows them to gain a greater understanding of the world and their place in it.  Environmental education in early childhood is a holistic concept that encompasses knowledge of the natural world as well as emotions, dispositions, and skills.

Our Preschool is developing our knowledge and understanding of sustainable practice through research and Professional Development.  We see our role in supporting the environment through reducing, reusing and recycling as significant opportunities for learning.
